Growth

Our area is popular and attracts new citizens each week because it’s a great place to live.

We live in one of the best places in the nation. We will grow but we must pay attention to the details better. We need to be sure as we grow we don’t lose what we all love about living in Cary.

I reject the old notions of pro growth/slow growth. These labels have divided Cary into groups that resent each other’s view. The reasons Cary is growing are regional broad issues that attract people to our jobs and our high quality of life. The only way to stop new families from coming to the region would be to ruin Cary and make it a less desirable place to live. We can’t let that happen.

However, as we grow we must keep high standards for development, we must have tough standards for our environment, and protect our air and water.  You can count on me to pay attention to the details and be sure I ask this question with every project I review… Will this make Cary better?

To do this I will work to simplify the Land Development ordinance to get back to the tools we used with Planned Unit Developments (PUDS). That reduces and clarifies the use of Mixed Use Sketch plans. I’ll work to be sure protest petitions are respected and consistent with North Carolina state law in all cases we use them.

I‘ll work to help citizens better understand the confusing terms and process steps. Every citizen sould know how and when to participate and feel confident they too have a equal say at the table when decisions are being made.
